This blurb in the Indy Star today says that zoning has been approved for a new Jack In The Box fastfood restaurant here in Indy. It also says that the location where zoning was obtained was for 21st and Post. Strange location. I don't think I'll be visiting it any time soon. If they open up a store in a neighborhood where less kevlar is necessary I might check it out.
Update 8/8/11: According to this new article at the Indy Star, Jack will be opening up 2 more locations in addition to the one on Post. 1 location on the near North side on Meridian and 1 on the Northeast side on 82nd.
Update 11/2/11: Since this turns out to be the most popular post in terms of views on my blog (for some reason) I thought I would post another update. According to this Indiana Business Journal article JITB is opening as many at 10 locations all over the city with the first being opened on the South side at U.S. 31 and County Line Rd. It also says they are getting some resistance to opening one on 82nd. The 82nd St location would be most convenient for me, and I don't see myself traveling all the way down to the South side just to try it out.
Update 1/14/12 The first location is opening on Monday 1/16/12 on the South side. Post about that opening here.

I was thinking the same thing about the location. Always wanted to try JITB but I'm not going to make a special trip there. Maybe I'll go there with the boys after we go shooting at Pop Guns. At least we'll be armed! (ha).
Is this a joke? I've grown up on the east side all my life. What's funny is that there are more reports of armed robberies in Nora and Broad Ripple area parking lots than I have ever heard about on the east side. I know of three reports, over about a seven or so year period, of incidents on the east side. Two of those involved armored trucks. There have already been two or three reports of armed robberies in Nora area parking lots. There were at least three or four armed robberies in Broad Ripple either this year, or last year (can't recall). Oh, don't forget the three attacks on the Monon Trail, one near Broad Ripple, the other near Nora!!
If you need to wear Kevlar, do it when visiting Nora, or while on the Monon Trail. You will be safe enough on the east side. Can't wait to try this Jack-in-the-Box. I likely will wait a few weeks till after the newness dies down.
That is a total lie. Have you read the paper? The fact that the Nora and Broadripple robberies are in the paper are in the news are due to the fact that they happen so rarely. If you look online at the Indy star, there is at least one car jacking that I read about this morning on the east side. Want to know why you don't see it advertised as much as the one in Nora and Broadripple? BECAUSE IT HAPPENS ALL THE FREAKING TIME. Duh. It is a great thing to have pride for where you live, but to cast a blind eye to the fact that a lot of crime DOES happen there is kind of stupid.
21st and Post is not an area I would be concerned about visiting for safety reasons. I live near there and frequent the area often. The east side is working class, though, so if you're afraid of the average American then I guess you should stay "up north."
Since I left California and moved here I have been dying for some Jack in the Crack!!! I'm hella happy that it is finally coming here. I'll travel anywhere in this city to get my tacos, jalapeno poppers, egg roles and sour dough jack with cheese!!
Ahh, I can't wait. Been in Indy for 2 years. I miss two things from San Diego....Jack in the crack and a real Carne Asada Burrito from Roberto's or Alberto's....oh yeah...rolled tacos from Taco Surf in PB.
Just saw in today's Star that zoning was approved for a JITB in Avon...any word if they're still planning on opening at 21st and Post?
There seems to be a lot of conflicting info out there. I think that has to do with the star doing piece meal reporting of JITB opening multiple locations instead of just one. I read there were going to be at least 3 locations, but I haven't seen comprehensive info yet.
Finally since we maved to Indy back in 1992 we missed the real carne asada burritos, tacos we have been waiting for this moment is about time i can't wait oh yeah something from OUR BEAUTIFUL CALI WONDERFUL!
OMG....I'm soooo totally glad to see that I am not the only Cali transplant....ONLY Cali locals call it Jack-in-the-crack!!! Lol...Love it. I am on the NE side of Indy....Everytime I go back to Cali...I stuff myself with 3 things....In-n-out...Carls jr. Zucchini...and JITB Taco's....Can't wait!!!! :O)
We're excited to finally get a JITB here in Indy. JACK ROCKS the fast food world! Now if we can only get Pappadeaux to open up here I wouldn't get so home sick for Houston!
Im From California and im so glad that the first Jack in the box in the state of indiana will be right down the street from my house. Everyone will love it...It is one of the best fastfood places on the westcoast. There tacos are to die for and they serve breakfast 24/7.
